Vacancy Type: Full Time Date Posted: 8/26/2015 Closing Date: 9/26/2015 City: Chicago - 60618 State: Illinois URL: http://www.tribunemedia.com/ Experience: Desired Experience and Skills - A minimum of 5 years as an A1 in a live production environment required. - Expert knowledge of diversity wireless microphone/IFB systems required. - Experience with Wheatstone/Wheatnet-IP products preferred. - At least two years of experience in a broadcast facility (radio or TV) preferred. - Expert knowledge of current broadcast audio standards and trends preferred. - A flexible work schedule is required. This may include nights, weekends and very early mornings. - Working knowledge of common business software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. - You must be detail-oriented and have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. - Must be self-sufficient and have a press-on-regardless attitude. - Must work well in a collaborative team environment. - Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. as well as work that may require use of a ladder The WGN-TV facility originates WGN-TV/Channel 9 as well as three national networks and a 24-hour cable news operation. This position will require shift work which includes nights, weekends and holidays, along with overtime as situations demand. This position is a staff position which will require membership in IBEW. Requirements: The successful candidate will be responsible for audio lead “A1” duties on a wide range of live productions. Working alone or with an A2 you will be responsible for planning, organizing, setting up and executing all aspects of audio plans for daily live studio news programs, prerecorded shows, remote broadcasts and live music segments. This includes managing and mixing wireless and wired microphones, IFB/PL/Monitor mixes, audio equipment fax/set/strike, etc. As the A1 you will be the go-to person for all audio challenges during your shift. You must be an expert troubleshooter/multitasker and thrive in a fast changing, spontaneous live production environment.
