Requisition Number: 185373BR Area of Interest: Operations/General, Network Television Production, Cable Television Production Position Type: Full Time JOB OVERVIEW: Assist the Operations Manager with departmental workflow procedures, supervising staff, inter-department relations, and maintaining production quality JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assists Operations Manager in overseeing the day to day operational needs • Assists in hiring, developing and mentoring operations staff • Assists with reviewing employee performance for the purpose of corrective action, salary increases and promotions • Manage department when Operations Manager is unavailable • Monitor and maintain quality production values • Organize and coordinate studio and control room resources • Maintain media to comply with closed captioning guidelines • Fill-in as Technical Director as needed • Assist Operations Manager with scheduling personnel and efficient department operation • Promote teamwork and a positive work environment • Update and document procedural information for users • Assist engineering with troubleshooting system problems • Develop methods for file transfers and video conversion processes • Perform other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • College degree with a concentration in television production or equivalent experience preferred • Should have at least five years’ experience working in a fast paced television newsroom production environment, knowledge of newsroom automation systems, online storage, and computer languages. Familiar with IT infrastructure and workflows KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES: • Management: Must have the ability to organize and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines and in pressure situations. Must have the ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to change • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead people and obtain results through others • Applications: Requires strong technical aptitude and experience with television control room and studio production technology including production automation systems, newsroom editorial software, file transfer protocol and non-linear editing systems • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate with all levels within the organization and with external vendors • Interpersonal: Ability to build relationships and motivate others • Teamwork: Requires adaptability, enthusiasm, initiative, ability to handle criticism, even temperament and a positive approach to problem solving. Must work effectively within a team environment • Must adhere to attendance guidelines • Must be able and willing to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes WORKING CONDITIONS: • Primarily inside in a climate controlled environment • Communicates in person, by phone and by email • Must be able to work under time pressure deadlines and willing and able to work different shifts or longer shifts due to "breaking news" and severe weather emergencies.
