ABC15 in Phoenix, Arizona is looking for an experienced Local Sales Manager to lead and motivate the local sales team. The Local Sales Manager is responsible for organizing and directing the local sales department plus negotiate ratings, rates and budgets. This position will develop new business for the station utilizing and maximizing all station platforms including but not limited to broadcast, digital and mobile and lead the team in selling transactional accounts on all three platforms.
*Sale of advertising time to clients/agencies, involving local travel.
*Assist Director of Sales in training, development and motivation of local sales department.
*Utilize and maximize air time inventory and resources to achieve revenue goals.
*Develop and implement new business plan.
*Working knowledge of generic digital products and systems.
*Establish local budgets.
*Understand and interface with traffic system and staff to efficiently manage air time inventory.
*Maintain positive relationships with outside vendors.
*Oversee account receivables and credit policies.
*Develop and implement pricing and packaging to fill needs of both client and station.
*Conduct regular sales training for team.
*Effectively forecast sales revenue and manage department expenses within budget.
*Establish local market value and position of ABC15. Know the strengths and weaknesses of competing stations and mediums.
*Perform other duties as needed and directed by Director of Sales.
Education and Experience/Certifications:
Education -- Four Year college degree or equivalent experience required.
Experience -- 3 years minimum television or related sales required. Research techniques and ability to write "one-sheeters" preferred.
Equipment -- Knowledge of Word, Excel required. Knowledge of Wide Orbit, Scarborough, Kantar Media, Matrix is preferred.
License -- Must have a valid driver's license and provide proof of insurability.
Skills -- Must have basic math skills. Ability to read, interpret and present tv ratings/data. Ability to interpret and present qualitative information. Above average oral and written communication skills. Ability to deal effectively with a varied list of clients. Ability to solve problems creatively. Ability to make professional presentations to individuals and groups. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
