Job Description Arizona PBS is seeking on-call TV Production/Directors to produce, develop, direct, write, edit and supervise the production of television programs, documentaries and specials for distribution across multiple platforms, including broadcast on public television. Schedule is to be decided, based on needs, with no guarantee of hours. Essential Duties Assists in developing and implementing creative ideas for program, content and format for television programs, series, specials and special projects Conducts research and interviews and writes scripts for programs Creates, executes and communicates production schedules Determines requirements for staffing, equipment, materials and facilities to complete the production Directs shooting and ensures technical quality of production Coordinates talent and guest appearances and obtains required contracts, legal releases, or copyright clearances Consults with station management and legal counsel regarding any legal questions or journalistic issues raised in programs Prepares necessary reports or maintains log of production activities Assembles and edits video to ensure visual cohesiveness by assessing narrative and visual content Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting, Communications or related field AND two years experience in writing/producing/directing programs in studio and on location; OR, six years’ experience in writing/producing/directing programs in studio and on location; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Desired Qualifications Experience producing full-length programs - at least 30-minutes in length Experience in creating and reformatting content for distribution across multiple platforms Experience in advanced aspects of editing using Adobe Premier Experience in photo/graphic editing applications such as Adobe Creative Suite Working Environment Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts Communicate to perform essential functions Occasionally, drive ASU vehicle to perform duties Department Statement Arizona PBS specializes in the education of children, in-depth news and public affairs, lifelong learning, and the celebration of arts and culture — utilizing the power of noncommercial television, the Internet, educational outreach services, and community-based initiatives.
