Area of Interest Journalism Division Television Description WEWS Internship -- Good Morning Cleveland (GMC) WEWS-TV, the Scripps owned ABC affiliate in Cleveland, OH, is in search of talented college students looking for an experience-enriching paid summer internship for its Good Morning Cleveland (GMC) newscast. GMC is a fast paced newscast on WEWS NewsChannel 5. The GMC intern will be able to learn every aspect of a live two and half hour newscast, more specifically what it takes to get a morning show on the air. Duties may include but are not limited to: writing scripts, editing stories, shadowing reporters, going out with photographers, learning the assignment desk, researching stories and learning how to get important information that's needed for scripts, working with digital team to post new stories. Good Morning Cleveland Interns begin their work day at 3:00am! This ten to twelve-week program offers mentoring from those at the top of their game, networking and real world experience in a fun, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. We are looking for motivated, ambitious students who are seeking to expand their knowledge, improve their skills and kick-start their career. Job Requirements All candidates must be willing to work 25 hours/week, 3AM-11AM All candidates must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship All candidates must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session Performs other duties as necessary. Education & Experience/Certifications Enrolled at an accredited college or university Registered as a Sophomore or above and in good stranding Receive college/university course credit for participating in this program. The amount of course credit to be earned is determined and must be verified by the college/university, prior to starting assignment.
