MULTIMEDIA JOURNALIST (MMJ) JOB #300-JB WTHR, the #1 NBC station in Indianapolis is searching for a Multimedia Journalist in our reporting ranks. Your responsibilities as a general assignment MMJ will include reporting, shooting, writing and editing news stories in an enterprise-based newsroom. Daily expectations include producing and posting content for our many digital platforms and developing a “social voice” among your followers. We are looking for someone who’s a self-starter and isn’t afraid to head out into the field to break big stories and ask tough questions. We put an emphasis on storytelling, both visually and in the writing and we expect strong packages and live shot execution every day. You’ll also be required to develop and maintain good contacts and sources in the community. Strong news and editorial judgment are requirements in our deadline-driven environment. Good communication skills on-air and behind the scenes are a must! While you would primarily work independently, there will be occasions for pairing up with a photojournalist when on significant breaking news and where stories require live shots. This is not an entry level position – we require a minimum of 4-years of MMJ experience, along with a degree in journalism, communications or a related field. Our candidate must have the ability to work flexible hours. Position requires driving so qualified candidates must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.
