The Research/Marketing Director is responsible for coordinating all aspects of measurement and research conducted on behalf of WKMG-TV. This position will take a leadership role in providing research-oriented direction and insights as WKMG continues to innovate in both the broadcast and digital media industry.
The Research/Marketing Director will work with WKMG departments and play a key leadership role in utilizing research to grow and develop ideas for sales, news, marketing and promotions. The right candidate for this position will exhibit a curiosity for evolving research designs and methods to monetize assets for sales, news, marketing and promotions.
Serve as station expert on key methodological developments, initiatives and problem areas for all key measurement providers (including both Nielsen, ComScore, etc.).
Work with Graham Media Group VP Research Director, corporate and station digital team and all consulting partners to ensure all areas of stations needs are being met.
Serve as a strategic liaison in coordinating, design and implementation of primary research projects for sales, news and creative services.
Concisely communicate our strengths and help sellers tell our story to existing and prospective clients.
Assist with the negotiation of and oversight of vendor contracts to ensure all obligations are being met on a regular and ongoing basis.
Endeavor to find new ways to use research to assist sales and achieve revenue goals for broadcast and digital.
Keep a keen strategic eye on future trends in the broadcast and digital space that can offer WKMG insights into revenue potential, as well as, potential pitfalls in measurement areas.
Take a leadership position at the station regarding industry related research matters; keeping in mind opinions on new initiatives, technologies and such need to be grounded in the best interests of WKMG and GMG.
Must have a valid drivers license with a driving record acceptable to the Company.
Reports to General Sales Manager
Enjoy public speaking and interacting with clients and industry professionals.
Demonstrated presentation skills in terms of showcasing research to both internal and external clients.
Must be highly organized with excellent written and oral communications skills.
In addition to extensive research background, sales and/or marketing experience with client interaction expected.
Creativity with PowerPoint to bring research to life in a customized sales deck for sellers and clients.
Exhibit a curiosity for evolving research designs and methods to monetize assets for sales and news.
Strong management and interpersonal skills, including problem solving, analytical abilities and training/development.
Must be pragmatic, collaborative, team-oriented leader with highly developed relationship-building skills, adept at both influencing change and consensus building. Qualified candidates must be curious, creative, intuitive and focused with an unquestioned reputation for integrity, trust and ethics.
Working experience as a Television, Cable, Network or Advertising Agency Research Director or similar related experience.
Thorough working knowledge of Nielsen ratings and methodology, Scarborough, Google Analytics, Comscore, One Domain and other related and necessary software tools strongly recommended.
