Job Description: The Executive Producer is responsible for creating a dynamic, locally focused newscast with strong production values. The EP reports to the Assistant News Director. The EP works directly with newscast producers, reporters, anchors and production staff to insure that a relevant, important, interesting, mistake free, "on brand" newscast is being produced each day. The Executive Producer is responsible for evaluating the editorial content and presentation of each newscast he/she supervises as well as supervise the production staff for those newscasts.
Skills (Essential and Preferred): Executive Producers are not only responsible for the overall "look" of newscasts assigned to them, they are responsible for evaluating each individual item in all newscasts, including; story selection, story content, story presentation. They evaluate talent presentation. They must be able to communicate they expectations effectively with the newscast staff. They are required to evaluate each newscast on preset goals, including: original content (stories), and mistake free presentation.
Experience (Essential and Preferred): EP's should have 3 to 5 years of news department management experience, preferably as a producer, or as an EP in a smaller television market.
