Position: Technical Director Company: E. W. Scripps Company Station(s): WXYZ-TV-TV Job Type: fulltime Hours: 40 Compensation: / year Job Description: Primary Purpose of Job: Responsible for on-air operation of the Ignite automated control room system to produce the stations newscasts and productions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assigned to control room productions both live and recorded. Works with directors and producers for pre-pack production, studio shot planning, graphics integration and Ignite IQT/TMEbuilding. Technical knowledge of backup control room systems and critical production signal flow. Knowledge of studio systems including robotic camera operation and "aux" signal flow for monitor feeds. Ability to assist with remote set-ups and field switching. Supervise the performance of engineers assigned to productions including set-up and knockdown. Ability to operate Master Control. Other duties as assigned. Essential Physical Functions: Must have the ability to work on fast-pace rapidly changing productions for extended periods. Constant viewing of multiple video and computer monitors. Ability to multitask using computer keyboards and equipment control panels. Qualifications: College degree in engineering or communications/video production preferred. Currently or recently performing duties as a technical director of automated live programming, preferably at least 3 years prior experience. Supervisory experience helpful. Working knowledge of state-of-the-art video switchers and effects. Familiar with routers, video servers, audio consoles, robotic studio cameras, graphics systems and studio production equipment. Effective communication and people skills. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends.
