WJRT-TV in Flint, MI has an exciting opportunity for a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ). If you’re an MMJ who knows how to aggressively break and cover compelling news stories that our viewers care about – we want you on our team! The ideal candidate demonstrates solid news judgment and storytelling abilities, with a passion for delivering original, imaginative content every day. You will be expected to produce daily content on a variety of platforms including, live TV, internet, social networking sites and mobile. You must approach each assignment with a passion for great, human stories, enjoy and remain active on social media and constantly be competing for the day’s top story. You must be a dynamic reporter, pitch “enterprise” stories daily, be a great photographer and creative editor ; a storyteller with smart news judgment, excellent technical skills and the ability to work independently and with others, on deadline. Great writing and a willingness to learn will earn you this position. A positive, can-do attitude and a desire to win are essential. Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited, to: Identifying the day’s most important stories and sourcing materials relevant to your audience Researching, writing and editing daily content for television and web platforms Working with management and staff to generate stories and content Meeting daily deadlines in a fast-paced environment Write, shoot, edit and present compelling content both on-air and online. Essential Qualifications include, but are not limited, to: Experience with live shots and breaking news coverage - mandatory. Ability to operate TVU and/or Dejero preferred. Social media and web skills essential. Candidates should also exhibit a good work ethic, strong people skills, the ability to be a team player and must maintain a professional attitude at all times. At least two years of experience in a TV newsroom, as well as a college degree in broadcast journalism or a related field is preferred. Experience with ENPS or non-linear editing software is a big plus. This is a full time position offering competitive salaries with a competitive benefit package that includes medical/dental/vision plans as well as a 401k plan. This position requires availability to work weekends, and may require holiday work. Hours, shifts, responsibilities are flexible and are subject to change at the News Directors discretion.
