Brief description of duties & responsibilities: Produces and Anchors weather for weekend newscast, works as general assignment reporter three days a week and fills in as needed as Weather Anchor or reporter for morning/evening newscasts. Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience. Three years professional experience preferred (More or less depending on market size.) Superior on-air presence. Produces and presents weather reports on air and for all digital platforms. Must enterprise stories daily. Must be a good storyteller and able to generate local stories that are important to the community. Writes and delivers weather reports and news stories in a clear and concise manner. Writes, researches and coordinates weather programming and other content. Tweets and produces Facebook lives daily and interacts with viewers and users on social media sites. Writes news and weather copy for website as needed. Responds quickly to breaking news and/or severe weather. Works closely with the weather team to develop comprehensive weather coverage. Performs special projects and other duties as assigned. Ensures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality. Required Skills: 1. Fluency in English. 2. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when needed. 3.Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 4.Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. 5. Flexibility to work any shift. · This is not an entry-level position previous on-air experience presenting weather and news information is required. Physical Demands and Work Environment: The Weekend Weather Anchor/Reporter must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, work outdoors occasionally in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Must be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
