The Cinema and Television Arts department within the School of Media Arts (SMA) at Columbia College Chicago, is seeking applicants for a one-year Practitioner in Residence position to perform teaching, curricular development and some administrative responsibilities within the department, specifically addressing subject areas related to Television Production (including Studio, Live and Remote Production), Directing, and Broadcast Journalism for the academic year 2017 – 2018 beginning August 16, 2017. Duties and Responsibilities Reporting to the Chair, this appointment carries a two-semester, full-time teaching responsibility of four courses (12 credits) per semester, and involves participation in student mentoring, registration, departmental meetings, attendance at the SMA Faculty Retreat, Open House, Commencement, and other duties as assigned. Primary duties and responsibilities include:  To teach at the undergraduate level in areas allocated by the Chair of Department.  To engage with the broader scholarly and professional communities.  To supervise and advise undergraduates in the department.  To contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.  To assist in the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.  To participate in departmental curriculum and faculty meetings.  To participate in committee and task force work.  To participate in the administration of the department’s curriculum.  To work with the Manager of Academic Services to schedule and staff courses in production and broadcast journalism areas.  To maintain own continuing professional development.  To actively follow and promote Columbia College Chicago policies, including Equal Opportunities. Qualifications  Master’s Degree (preferred) and /or commensurate professional experience in the field of study and college teaching experience required.  Must have a strong knowledge of studio production, field production and social media with the ability to integrate multiple technologies in the classroom.
