Cleveland 19 News is looking for a creative leader to build our evening broadcasts and digital platforms. The ideal candidate will know how to serve viewers on their phones and on their televisions, moving them from one to the other throughout the day. She/he will know how to produce great newscasts that adhere to the highest standards of journalism. Description of Duties: o Direct newsroom operation during shift. o Supervise overall production, writing and on-air direction of newscasts during shift. o Administer directives of News Director and implement news department policy through individual broadcasts. o Assist in hiring, scheduling and evaluating producers, associate producers and on-air talent. o Occasional special project producing. o Other duties assigned by the Director of News or Assistant News Director. o Occasional out of town assignments, which may include field producing. Education/Skills Required: o A management position requiring 3-5 years of news line producing and previous news management in a major market. o Excellent people skills and news judgment. Able to make multiple decisions under extreme deadline pressure. o Must be knowledgeable about and be able to demonstrate contemporary production skills. o May be called upon to run the news operation in the absence of the Director of News and Assistant News Director. o Knowledge and understanding of libel and privacy law is required.
