Anchor/Investigative Reporter WHNT News 19 in Huntsville, Alabama, is looking for an accomplished investigative reporter and fill-in anchor. This is a high profile position. We need a solid journalist who knows how to dig up stories, ask the tough questions, hold the powerful accountable and stick up for the “little guy.” The ideal candidate thrives on exposing scams, rip-offs, going after the con artists and is motivated by getting results for our viewers. Candidates must have 3-5 years of reporting and anchoring experience and a reel to prove it. We need someone who can demonstrate they can embrace our brand, Taking Action, Getting Results. If you can consistently do these things, you and your stories will be heavily promoted. Primary Responsibilities · Daily enterprise reporting · Consistently produce investigative reports that reinforce station Taking Action, Getting Results brand and appeal to target audience · Collaborate with other members of the investigative team · Develop web/social content to support the broadcast content · Respond aggressively to breaking news · Execute compelling live shots and stand-ups · Establish and maintain relationships/sources in the community · Fill-in anchor newscasts as needed · Involvement in community/station events as directed by the station Requirements: · Bachelor’s degree required · 3-5 years reporting & anchoring experience; emphasis on investigative reporting · Demonstrated ability to deliver compelling and promotable stories · Strong command of communications law, hidden camera work · Capable of using all the online research tools available · Knowledge of how to file FOIAs and open records requests · Strong organizational skills · Ability to work in a rapid, fast-paced environment · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays Candidates must apply through the Tribune Media employment portal at tribunemedia.com/careers.
