WGN-TV is looking to expand its digital team by hiring a Per Diem Web Producer. This multitalented candidate must have strong news judgment, knowledge of myriad social media and thrive on working in the 24-hour news cycle. Responsibilities include: -Writing up and posting local news stories, interesting videos and web exclusive content that may originate outside of our newscasts to our digital properties. -Populating our social media channels with compelling content that drives traffic and engagement. -Ensuring factual, grammatical and legal accuracy online and upholding the station’s established journalistic standards to avoid editorial bias. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills who is organized and focused on ensuring a website that is topical and beneficial to users. The candidate should also be able to balance the demands of both long and short-term projects, while meeting daily deadlines. A college degree in journalism, mass communications, a related field or equivalent experience is required. Recent graduates may apply but 1-2 years of online content experience with a broadcast/television media environment, as well as experience in website design and functionality, is preferred. Strong abilities with HTML, Adobe Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Wordpress, Google Analytics and Chartbeat a plus. Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, as well as being on call, are required. Equal Opportunity Employer
