Job Title News Admin Asst Job Description I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives. The Newsroom Administrative Assistant provides high level, confidential administrative support in a fast-paced newsroom environment. Successful applicant will possess strong critical thinking, problem solving and customer relations skills (ability to listen to viewers, offer solutions to their concerns). The ability to juggle multiple duties on compressed timelines is essential. II. Essential Job Functions Weight % Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results 20% Handle phone calls and emails; record keeping; distribute mail; maintain supply inventory, back-up receptionist for breaks etc. 25 % Provide accounting & budget support including expense coding & deadline adherence, assisting with newsroom purchase order tracking etc. 20% Provide support during live broadcasts including guiding guests, coordinating with producers & production personnel & setting up segments. 15 % Provide administrative support to News Director, Asst. News Director & News Personnel. 10% Track Newsroom Initiatives (social media/online posting; talent appearances, etc.) 10% Coordinate travel, meals, and meetings. 100% III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered. Education: High school graduate. College degree preferred. Experience: Prior administrative support experience. Minimum two years. Knowledge of broadcasting and/or television preferred. Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Microsoft Word programs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience with Oracle Expense Reporting software helpful. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience with handling main telephone console helpful but not required. % Travel Required: #LMG
