Job Title Technical Producer Job Description I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives. The Technical Producer oversees the operation of the Ignite automation system and executes live newscasts, commercial productions, and special projects from that terminal. This position coordinates the successful completion of “start to finish” daily work-flow. The Technical Producer also creates graphic elements for various applications and works closely with elements entered into rundowns through MOS. II. Essential Job Functions Weight % Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results 60% Operates the Ignite automation system for newscasts, commercial productions, and special projects. Maintains and builds functionality within the Ignite system. Executes all aspects of live production using the Ignite system, maintaining high quality production standards. Troubleshoots technical issues as they occur. 25% Collaborates with promotion and news employees to develop all necessary pre-production elements. Executes promotional tapings as required. Performs various other supporting duties within the station including operating teleprompter, operating handheld and jib cameras, creating graphics for various applications, and supporting the continuous news process. 15% Addresses technical issues. Provides continuous feedback on daily performance and system status. Communicates effectively and thoroughly with employees to prepare for and execute all duties assigned. 100% III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered. Education: Completion of high school, or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in broadcast television production or media preferred. Experience: Minimum two years experience in a live broadcast television environment with hands-on experience in control room including directing, switching, audio, graphics, character generator, robotics, and automated production systems. Experience operating and maintaining Ignite automation tools and software preferred. Experience operating handheld and jib cameras preferred. Basic graphics experience preferred. Experience working with Chyron systems preferred. Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Highly motivated and confident in executing difficult and complex tasks. Self directed and able to function proactively to ensure results and goals are met as well as adhere to strict deadlines. Good leadership skills; ability to provide guidance and direction to a team. Ability to consistently function in a high-pressure role and environment. Ability to quickly react to changing priorities and needs. Must be able to troubleshoot difficult problems and develop solutions to address root causes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. % Travel Required (Approximate): 5% #LMG#
