Network Engineer 40655BR Technology/Engineering Operations & Technology Responsibilities About The Organization The Technology Infrastructure Organization is the main program delivery team at NBCU in Media Technology. The team is charged with delivering technology solutions from “wing to wing” using standard platforms, processes, environments, and tools. The team is focused on capital and larger expense programs and functions as the main source of Network Engineering talent for NBCU About the Opportunity Responsible for the services provided by the Enterprise Network team worldwide, including: design, engineering and implementation of network services to meet both short and long-range business needs, and the implementation of service delivery improvement initiatives. Job Purpose / Candidate Requirements Multi-faceted, highly skilled individual, who will be responsible for the engineering projects to address and resolve business needs. The candidate must be able to work alone or in a team environment. This individual may be managing small to large implementations on his or her own. This will include design to troubleshooting. Primary Responsibilities: Potential candidates must possess a range of the following skills: Ideal candidate will have a solid networking background with a focus on Cisco hardware Knowledge and experience of Core Routing and Switching design, configuration, and troubleshooting, Knowledge of Cisco Best Practices in: Routing protocols OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ISIS WAN connectivity such as T1/T3, OC3, OC12, Metro Ethernet Spanning-tree, VTP, Port Channels, Load balancing, SPAN Multicast PIM Sparse/Dense, MSDP NAT Quality Of Service understanding and configuration, able to customize across all Cisco platforms to support Voice, Video, and selected applications Solid understanding of VPN - site to site, client, IPSEC (including the protocol suite), IKE, DMVPN, tunnel modes, SSL clientless/ Anyconnect, Tunnels between ASAs, Routers ASA Firewalls and FWSMs - NAT, ACL configuration, IPSec and SSL VPN, Strong background in wireless communication design, configuration Cisco Wireless knowledge Wireless surveys Wireless site assessment and audit Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning MPLS traffic engineering design, configuration, and troubleshooting LDP, TDP, RSVP Label distribution MPBGP-VPNv4, Multi-VRF and VRF-Lite Knowledge of Datacenter design utilizing the Nexus product line Strong knowledge of the Cisco ASR 9000 product line Solid command of IOS, IOS –XR, NX-OS Design and implement of data, voice or video network infrastructures. Responsible for implementing complex projects (any “first time” builds) Core or Internet (DMZ or External Facing) infrastructures, acceptance testing of new hardware and software. Responsible for tier 3/4 troubleshooting. Design and deploy necessary controls to insure the network meets service levels. Qualifications/Requirements BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or other technical discipline. Minimum 3-5 years experience leading project builds with proven performance to achieve on-time completion of projects. Demonstrated successful design, planning and implementation of wide and local area network architecture, including troubleshooting and capacity planning. Expertise working on a team with motivated cross-functional individuals focused on a common goal of delivering cutting edge solutions to meet aggressive business demands in an ever-changing environment to achieve on-time and on budget completion of projects. Cisco CCNA, CCNP certificate or equivalent experience Strong communication skills Solid documentation experience with Visio, Word, Excel Ambitious and goal oriented, with initiative to work until job is complete.
