WGN-TV has an immediate staff opening for a Multi-Role Operations Engineer to work in a dynamic broadcast environment. The successful candidate will be able to operate a wide variety of equipment in our state-of-the-art master control, news control and transmission control rooms for multiple channels including national networks, local broadcast and cable channels. The candidate must have strong computer skills and be able to learn new technologies. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in several of the following areas: Master control operations in a 24-hour, Class-A broadcast facility Operation of robotic cameras in a live production environment Operation of audio production consoles in a live newscast environment Transmission and Satellite organization and control for live sports events Operation of automated production switchers using Ross Overdrive, Sony Ignite, etc. Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting techniques and effective communication to best convey the issues necessary for resolution. Interested candidate must be a team player. This position requires schedule flexibility. Nights/weekends/holidays will be required. Requirements Five years total experience in professional live television broadcast operations required. You must be detail-oriented and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Working knowledge of common business software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Must be self-sufficient and have a press-on-regardless attitude. The WGN-TV facility originates WGN-TV/Channel 9 as well as three national networks and a 24-hour cable news operation. This position will require shift work which includes nights, weekends and holidays, along with overtime as situations demand.
