Position Summary Weekends, mornings, have you paid your dues? Is it your time to move up and into the top weather spot? KCAU TV, the ABC affiliate in Sioux City, Iowa, is looking for a strong, dynamic, personable and experienced meteorologist to serve as its next Chief Meteorologist. If weather forecasting is your thing, the Midwest is a great place to be. The right person for this job is a team player, has a strong sense of community and has what it takes to lead a team of three meteorologists in day-to-day and severe weather situations. You’ll also work in a year-old, state of the art facility and on a top-notch WSI system that loves to be pushed. This position requires a degree in Meteorology and a minimum of five years of broadcast weather experience. What is not required is a professional certification, but it is a plus. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Principal Duties & Responsibilities: • Produce and report weather and/or science related stories across all media platforms. • Present live weather reports from the station as well as in the field. • Write weather stories and update forecast information on station website. • Develop innovative and creative ways of presenting the daily weather story. • Create maps and graphics to illustrate weather conditions. Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Understand importance of social media. • Proficiency with WSI weather systems. • Detail oriented. |
