TV Weekend Anchor Reporter WRAL-TV is looking for a seasoned journalist to anchor live weekend newscasts and report during the week. As an anchor, the individual will be called upon to communicate news and information to viewers during newscasts, special reports, continuous coverage, and other types of news programs. This will include interpreting news events, ad-libbing, and communicating breaking news when scripts are not available. Anchoring duties also involve gathering and writing stories. As a reporter, the individual must generate original, local stories; analyze events, issues and trends; conduct compelling interviews; and creatively produce television reports that communicate the news in a clear, imaginative manner. Embracing and effectively using social media is essential to succeeding in this job. The anchor's on-air role is critical and demands confident, smooth presentation skills. The individual must be able to deliver scripts clearly and effectively. Strong writing skills, solid news judgment and a strong sense of visual storytelling are essential skills. This individual must be a self-starter who cultivates sources and finds new information as a regular part of the job. Live reporting skills are vital, as well as the ability to ad lib and describe breaking news as it takes place around you. At least five years previous experience in television news and a four year college degree are required. A pre-employment drug screening is required. EOE, M/F.
