Director Broadcast Operations (Regular, Full-Time) WJBK is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic and creative Director of Broadcast Operations to supervise the technical operations in our studios, news production control room and master control. The Director of Broadcast Operations, under the supervision of the Vice President of Engineering and Operations, schedules, supervises and coordinates training of the technical operations staff to effectively manage the technical operations of the television station in accordance with FCC, OSHA, Fox Television Stations corporate regulations and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements. In addition, this employee works with the VP of News and the Assistant News Director to organize technical support for special events and emergency operational procedures. He or she will schedule in-studio and on-location special events logistics. In addition, this individual supervises and schedules stage crews. Employee will assist the VP of Engineering and Operations in capital planning for the station as well as department expense budgeting. Duties will include: manage day-to day broadcast operations, address operational issues, schedule technical staff and stage crews, manage studio operations schedule, serve as liaison between Engineering and New Departments on daily operations, oversee standard operating procedures in technical areas and help create new procedures, work with the Programming and Traffic departments on contingency plans for broadcast schedules, coordinate on-going in-house training programs, assist in capital budget planning, manage service agreements with vendors, conduct monthly tests and drills to maintain technical staff readiness, plan for special events, and other duties as deemed appropriate to be assigned. The successful candidate must have a minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent broadcast experience. Candidate should have a minimum of five years working in a management position in a television broadcast news environment at a top 15 market television station. Candidate should have strong organizational and communication skills, and a proven track record in large scale remote production. The successful candidate should have experience working with multiple television station departments in producing excellent content for multiple platforms. WJBK utilizes Inews, BitCentral, Luci Graphics, Volicon, MediaView, Mediavault, and Kronos. Knowledge of these operating systems is a plus. Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing work environment. Candidate must be a self-starter with demonstrated critical-thinking abilities. Candidate should experience creating and successfully implementing written procedures and directives. Experience in a union environment is strongly preferred. Must have the ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with technical and staging staff, while maintaining company confidentiality. Must be able to direct staff and administer performance management procedures in accordance with company policies. The successful candidate must have experience with employee scheduling, for both daily operations and large station projects.
