Position: Assignment Editor/Content Producer Company: E. W. Scripps Company Station(s): WXYZ-TV-TV Job Type: fulltime Hours: Compensation: / year Job Description: The Assignment Editor & Content Producer is responsible for coordinating flow of information to assist in gathering/writing content for multiple platforms. Key Activities Works closely with Executive Producers and Real Time Manager to determine content needs Assists in making calls to news sources and gaining appropriate & actionable information to drive the development of content for multiple platforms Assists in finding stories, doing research, executes time sensitive decisions, and tracks story ideas Writes clearly for multiple platforms Posts content to station's websites Perform additional duties as assigned by news management Skills and Abilities Strong verbal and written communication skills, including grammar, storytelling abilities, and news judgement. Ability to perform multiple tasks in a face paced environment. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work effectively under deadlines. Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws Work environment Newsroom Deadline driven and fast-paced environment May work holidays, weekends, and nights if necessary.
