WGCL-TV/CBS46, a Meredith station, is searching for a highly qualified, motivated individual to fill its Creative Service Director (CSD) role. The CSD in charge of the station and digital operation's brand message and positioning, and is a champion for all station brands through creative output and policing. The CSD has daily contact with other department leaders and runs weekly marketing and brainstorming/review meetings. Serves as the primary leader in developing and executing the station marketing plan to drive ratings growth. This position is also responsible for overseeing programming promotion, graphic arts and commercial production.
Essential Job Functions
25% - Work closely with the News Director and news staff to develop/execute powerful topicals and image spots that reflect the direction of station's news brand.
25% - Manage a solid commercial production structure that enables sales to use production a tool for driving new revenue, while at the same time not becoming a free production house for clients.
25% - Market all station social media initiatives, working closely with the news /digital team to identify daily opportunities to reach the target audience.
10% - Work closely and stay in communication with affiliate marketing reps to maximize the network affiliation.
5% - Oversee public relations, including station news releases.
5% - Collaborate with all the department heads on station and branding matters.
5% - Work closely with legal to make sure all contests are properly vetted.
Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education: BA or BS in Advertising, Marketing, or Broadcasting preferred. HS Degree required.
Experience: Six yrs. experience in advertising, marketing or promotion, with a minimum of four in the television industry.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Advertising, marketing, promotion, broadcast production, budgeting, personnel management, and general broadcast station operations knowledge necessary. Strong Leadership skills. Good communication and organizational skills. Knowledge of and experience in social media marketing and promotion. Strong knowledge of broadcast news promotion. Ability to execute media plans and events. Creative skills including graphic design, editing, etc. helpful.
