Coordinates and communicates often with assignment desk and producers. Gathers, packages and brokers information about a news topic to the general public. The work performed is for all media platforms and initiatives, including on-air, website, app and social media. 60% Champions the editorial process by pitching enterprise story ideas daily. Develops, writes and reports news stories from concept to finish. Researches and compiles information into a written story that is ready for on-air delivery. Generates story ideas, cultivates news sources and remains knowledgeable regarding places, events and people in the news. 20% Provides daily story notes outlining ideas for future stories. Passes along facts uncovered concerning ongoing projects. Provides progress reports on story checks. Shares information relating to upcoming events, meetings or story developments. 10% Maintains contacts within community to report promptly on new or continuing events. 10% Serves as community ambassador for the news department. Responds to concerns of viewers. Makes personal appearances on behalf of the station. Your reel should demonstrate that you are journalistically and creatively ambitious, have superior writing and live skills, and are great at explaining complicated stories clearly and experienced as a fill in on the anchor desk. You'll work with a large staff of talented photojournalists and a large number of major-market tools to make those stories shine. The News Anchor/Reporter develops newscasts which will attract the largest available audience to the station’s newscasts. This position works with Producer to create the newscast. The News Anchor/Reporter covers news in the field, writes stories and edits and/or rewrites copy when needed.
