ob no: 511123 Work type: Staff Full-Time Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL) Categories: Communications/Public Relations/Marketing Department: 23070100 - CJC-WUFT-TV PROD CTR-ADMIN Classification Title: Broadcasting Coordinator II Job Description: In this role, the Senior News Manager will: Oversee content gathering and distribution for our multi-platform newsroom in the Innovation News Center (INC). Work collaboratively with other INC news managers and teach students how to create unique, engaging and shareable content for broadcast and digital platforms. Lead innovative, multimedia storytelling and community engagement efforts. Teach students how to research and verify information, develop sources, understand metrics and use social media effectively for gathering information and delivering news. Help lead day-to-day operational and editorial management, including active participation in daily news and production meetings. Manage a staff of paid and unpaid student reporters and producers. Manage all aspects of production of daily news briefs and enterprise news stories for various platforms. Teach beginning and advanced TV news courses (such as producing, on-air presentation, broadcast writing, shooting and editing). Expected Salary: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications: Five years of relevant professional experience. Experience in a TV, radio or digital newsroom as a manager, supervisor, executive producer, producer, editorial director, anchor/reporter, photographer/videographer. Experience with a variety of online, mobile and traditional media. Experience in editing and production software and content management systems. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to multitask and calmly handle live news situations and developing events. Master’s degree preferred. Demonstrated experience mentoring younger journalists will be most welcome.
