TV Sports Anchor/Reporter All candidates must apply online at https://app.jobvite.com/j?aj=ohHMafwE&s=EMMYOnline WRAL-TV is looking for a seasoned journalist to anchor live weekday sportscasts, report across multiple platforms, lead our sports efforts, and help reinvent our sports coverage. As an anchor, the individual will be called upon to communicate sports news and information to viewers during newscasts, special reports, continuous coverage, and other types of sports programs. Anchoring duties also involve gathering and writing stories. As a reporter, we’re looking for someone who’s passionate about breaking and enterprising stories. Digital oversight and daily contributions are expected. Embracing and effectively using social media are essential to succeeding in this job. This position also includes supervisory responsibilities, such as scheduling staff, making assignments, and writing reviews. Leading our sports staff and coverage will require superb organizational and communication skills. We’re looking for someone with lots of ideas on how to produce sports in new ways across platforms. The on-air role is critical and demands confident, smooth presentation skills. The individual must be able to deliver scripts clearly and effectively. Exceptional writing skills, solid news judgment and a strong sense of visual storytelling are essential. This individual must be a self-starter who cultivates sources and finds new information as a regular part of the job. Live reporting skills are important, as well as the ability to adlib and describe news as it takes place around you. Individual should be able to comfortably shoot and edit stories. Background must include regular updating and posting to the web. Writing weekly columns is an essential part of the job. At least five years previous experience in television sports and a four-year college degree are required. A pre-employment drug screening is required. EOE, M/F.
