KRQE Media Group in Albuquerque, NM has an immediate opening for an RF Field Supervisor. In this position, you will manage all the day to day activities in engineering as it relates to the RF on-air and delivery systems for KRQE, KBIM, KREZ, KASY, KWBQ & KRWB and their statewide distribution and translator network. You will assume duties of Chief Operator of all stations. Unique Characteristics & Functions: Maintain complete knowledge of RF distribution throughout the state. Manage RF engineering staff. Oversee installation and maintenance of all RF broadcast equipment, which includes transmitters, translators and microwave. Keep very careful records of each site and update accordingly, including photos. A good working knowledge of studio operations is very helpful. Work with vendors and other third parties for equipment ordering and installation at remote sites. Travel 75%+ to remote sites in company vehicle and often work alone. Create expense reports when necessary. When not traveling, work with studio engineers on in-house projects as assigned. Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Extensive experience with digital broadcast equipment and systems including test equipment and trouble shooting. Experience must include extensive maintenance and operation of full power UHF and VHF TV transmitters and antenna systems, satellite receivers and uplinks, generators, microwave transmitters and receivers, fiber optic systems, signal distribution equipment, and associated terminal equipment. Familiarity with personal computers and video file servers. Knowledge of US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management policies. Ability to solve problems and exercise good judgement. Troubleshooting and test equipment familiarity. Ability to work alone. Be on call 24/7. Exceptional organizational skills. The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Strong knowledge of FCC rules and regulations. Education/Experience: A minimum of a two-year Associate Degree in electronic technology or equivalent, 4-year college degree preferred. FCC and /or SBE certification is preferred. Experience with CAD. Experience with broadcast system design and project management. At least 5 years’ experience as a television maintenance technician and at least 3 years’ experience in a management capacity. Must have an acceptable driving record and a valid New Mexico driver license. Essential Physical Requirements: Good vision and color perception. Good hearing. The ability to work long hours on occasion. Driving on and off road. Varying periods of sitting, standing, walking and driving required. Body movement/motions required including but not limited to climbing, using arms and hands continuously and walking on uneven surfaces. Lifting requirements include continuous lifting, pulling/pushing up to 50 pounds. Job requires indoor and outdoor work and may involve extremes with heat, cold and heights.
