Job Title Multimedia Journalist Job Description I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives. The Multi-Media Journalist at Arizona’s Family CBS 5 & 3TV (Meredith Corp.) enterprises and generates daily news stories for live broadcast, station website(s) and all current and future media platforms. In addition, the Multi-Media Journalist: •Shoots and edits news material. •Performs engaging stand-ups or live shots as assigned. •Drives and operates microwave vehicles. •Posts stories on station website. Work performed is for all media platforms and initiatives, including for example: on-air, web, digital and social media. II. Essential Job Functions Weight % Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results 45%-Gathers information and images in the field for broadcast, station website(s) and all current and future media platforms. Records moving video and takes still pictures. Determines appropriate lighting for all video/picture platforms. Works collaboratively with Multi Media Photographer-Journalist or alone. Writes exceptional news copy for broadcast, station website(s) and online text. 25%-Edits images/video captured for live broadcast, station website(s) and all current and future media platforms. 20%-Posts news content including text, video and still images to station website(s). Serves as community ambassador for the news department. Responds to concerns of viewers. 10%-Strategically engages in social media. Makes personal appearances on behalf of the station. Attends station sponsored promotion events as scheduled. III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered. Education: Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience. Experience: At least two years’ experience in broadcast journalism. Experience reporting (MMJ) sports at a commercial television station preferred. Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must possess advanced understanding of legal and ethical issues impacting journalism. Ability to combine words and pictures into informative and interesting sports stories. Advanced knowledge of the locale, governing bodies, demographics and public figures. Ability to edit stories as necessary. Ability to perform quality work in high pressure deadline situations. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must possess valid Driver's License.
