Category: News Position/Title: Meteorologist Details: WSMV, a Meredith Corporation TV station is seeking a Meteorologist that develops and presents weathercasts which are consistent with the WSMV station mission and branding. In addition, this position implements weather research initiatives and develops weathercasts to attract the largest available audience. You will also expand weather brand reach on digital platforms. The work performed is for all media platforms and initiatives, including on-air, website, app and social media. Essential Job Functions 70% Prepares and anchors interesting and informative weathercasts with station brand and research in mind. 15% Develops and innovates new presentation tools for TV and digital platforms. Work performed is for all media platforms and initiatives, including for example: on-air, web, digital and social media. 10% Makes public appearances on behalf of the station including, but not limited to, “Surviving The Storm”. 5% Appears in station promotions. 100% Total Vacancy Type: Full Time Date Posted: 2/11/2021 Closing Date: 3/11/2021 City: Nashville - 37209 State: Tennessee Experience: Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology or equivalent training and/or experience. Experience: Two year’s experience as a weather anchor or meteorologist at a commercial television station. Requirements: Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: AMS or NWA seal preferred. Proficiency with complex computer-driven weather production systems, preferably WSI and Barons. Must be flexible and willing to work unexpected hours for severe weather. Must possess excellent ad lib skills and be able to drive long-form severe weather coverage solo or in a team setting.
