Job Title Broadcast Maintenance Engineer Job Description I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives. The Broadcast Maintenance Engineer at Arizona’s Family CBS 5 & 3 TV are owned and operated by the Meredith Local Media Group. BME repairs, maintains and installs mechanical and electronic equipment within the KPHO and Phoeinx Hubs facilities, as well as remote microwave sites, mobile production, SNG and ENG vehicles. This position provides operational support, when necessary, to news, production and the Phoenix Hubs. The Broadcast Maintenance Engineer repairs electronic equipment generally associated with a broadcast television station. The position configures, maintains, operates and repairs TCP/IP networking hardware, software and systems associated with the broadcast plant. In addition, the incumbent may, from time to time, be involved in systems design for new installations or reconfiguration projects. The Broadcast Maintenance Engineer frequently works with other non-technical members of the station staff and must show appropriate comportment and customer service attitude in those interactions. II. Essential Job Functions Weight % Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results 40% Performs troubleshooting of hardware and software problems on all Broadcast equipment. May repair to component or board level as appropriate and cost effective. 30% Provides prompt service in support of daily News Department operations and other station departments. 15% Performs preventative maintenance as appropriate on station equipment. 10% Supports, as necessary, the operational requirements of News, Production and Phoenix Central Cast Hub. 5% Cross-trains other member of the technical staff, and improves/updates technical job skills. 100% III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in Electronics or Computer Science, or equivalent training and/or experience. Experience: Five years experience maintaining technical equipment in a television broadcast or post-production facility. Must possess mid-level experience and knowledge of computers, servers, data infrastructure including Ethernet and fiber in support of IP and communications protocols, and computer operating systems (Cisco switches and routers, WinNT, Win2000, Win2000 Server, Win XP, Win2003 WinVista, Win7, Linux, etc.). Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: SBE Certification preferred and encouraged. CBT, CEV, CBNT, CBTE, CSTE are most appropriate to the role. Ability to install and configure computer hardware and software, and troubleshoot computer-related problems in support of Broadcast specific technology. Ability to communicate well with non-technical personnel to resolve equipment issues. Good written and verbal skills. Must possess a positive work attitude, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work well with others. Ability to prioritize and make changes to work plans without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to make well-informed decisions quickly while under pressure. Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks, with frequent changes.
