Job Title Multimedia Journalist Job Description I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives. The Multi-Media Journalist at Arizona’s Family CBS 5 & 3 TV are owned and operated by the Meredith Local Media Group. MMJ enterprises and generates daily news stories for live broadcast, station website(s) and all current and future media platforms. In addition, MMJ shoots and edits news material. Performs engaging stand-ups or live shots as assigned. Provide story narration on or off camera. Drives and operates microwave vehicles. Work performed is for all media platforms and initiatives, including for example: on-air, web, digital and social media. II. Essential Job Functions Weight % Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results 55% Gathers information and images in the field for broadcast, station website(s) and all current and future media platforms. Records moving video and takes still pictures. Determines appropriate lighting for all video/picture platforms. Works independently to meet the demands of a recurring franchise. Writes news copy for broadcast, station website(s) and online text. 20% Edits images/video captured for live broadcast, station website(s) and all current and future media platforms. 15% Posts news content including text, video and still images to website(s). 10% Strategically engages in social media. 100% III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Broadcasting or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience. Experience: Five to seven years related reporting experience. Experience with a regularly franchise strongly preferred. Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong understanding of reporting – legal, journalism, ethical issue Must be understand/able to use news management software and editing, preferably, iNews and Avid. Must possess strong research, journalism and storytelling skills. Must possess strong organization skills. Ability to multi task and manage short and long-term projects. Must possess strong writing skills a priority. Ability to work under minimal supervision. Strong on-air presence.
