WGN-TV has an immediate full-time staff opening for a Technology Assistant as part of the Engineering Department to work in a dynamic broadcast environment. The Technology Assistant must have excellent verbal, written and organizational skills. They must love to work with numbers and be detailed oriented. This position requires occasional after-hours work based on workload and reports to the Scheduling Manager for WGN-TV. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking and reconciling payroll, scheduling for the engineering department including tracking IBEW vacations, sick, personal and holiday comp time. This person will need to develop a solid understanding of the IBEW contract and be able to communicate with employees to answer their questions. Create monthly financial reports including cross billing of expenses. Maintain yearly payroll/vacation archives and provide accurate information for the corporate audit. Place equipment orders and track and reconcile credit card orders and capital projects. Create spreadsheets for ongoing projects and special events as needed. Will serve as backup to the Scheduling Manager and will work closely with Finance and Human Resource departments. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Access, Word, Excel) is a must. Previous experience with Workday or another payroll system is preferred. Qualifications -Detail-oriented and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. -Working knowledge of common business software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. -Associate Degree or higher and/or equivalent related experience is required. -Must work well in a collaborative team environment. -Must be self-sufficient and have a press-on-regardless attitude.
