WRAL is seeking an Associate Producer to join our news team. Responsibilities include coordinating WRAL News Desk assignments on weekend mornings, assisting producers with writing stories and teases, creating graphics and supers for newscasts, and writing content for WRAL's digital platforms. Candidates must be willing to learn how to produce newscasts, update the web and be available for assignment as a TV or digital producer on a fill-in basis. An Associate Producer must have the ability to overcome anticipated and unexpected changes when putting together newscasts and be willing to run teleprompter. Individual will also answer WRAL News Desk telephone inquiries, make decisions on news crew assignments, and make story confirmation checks via phone and email. Associate Producers must be able to work up to 40 hours weekly across a variety of shifts (including weekend evenings and two weekday shifts). Strong communication abilities, internet research experience, exceptional telephone handling skills are a must. Candidates currently attending college or possessing a college degree with a concentration in broadcast or media journalism are encouraged to apply. An ideal candidate must be able to work under tight deadlines, communicate clearly, be willing to work any work shift, and be prepared to work holidays. You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to work at CBC.
