Nashville Public Television (NPT), Nashville’s PBS station seeking to hire a MCR Operations Technician. The MCR Operations Technician is responsible for performing duties in master control for television operations and other duties as assigned. Reporting to the Director of Programming, this position will operate in a full-time capacity. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Ensure all on-air playlists are loaded and configured correctly and all programming meets the technical requirements for air. • Readily available to respond to alarms and other technical issues, including manual operation of automation, servers, tape machines, and graphic insertion utilizing all available equipment and software. • Regularly monitor and check broadcast feed for compliance with NPT quality standards and other items required in the daily monitoring checklist. • Maintain the official discrepancy report and other documentation as required, including the daily program logs. • Resolve any flagged issues with missing underwriting, promotion, filler or other interstitial elements. • Perform detailed quality evaluations of new content indicated on record, transfer and dub request documentation. • Monitor PBS communications for advisory and other important operational information. • Perform dubs for broadcast, clients, and in-house viewing. • Troubleshoot technical problems with automation and other systems. • Assist in admitting authorized visitors to the building. • Current and proficient in new technologies employed in the television operations of NPT, including the operation of applicable computer software. • Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge/Skills & Abilities: Demonstrated skills managing on air operations. ProTrack scheduling, Harmonic air servers with Polaris Interface, and Crispin automation experience a plus. Troubleshooting and critically thinking skills. Problem solving and analytical skills in real-time with on air issues. Education and Experience: High School Diploma required. Two years’ experience with television broadcasting equipment and systems including automation systems, or similar education background. Traffic software experience and SBE certification preferred. Proficient with computers. Onsite, in office position, Monday – Friday from 3 pm – 11 pm and weekends from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
