Nashville Public Television (NPT), Nashville’s PBS station is seeking to hire a Director of Education & Engagement. This position is responsible for developing and executing NPT’s educational and community engagement initiatives. Serving as a thoughtful partner, ensuring the overall management, coordination and evaluation of the educational and community-based projects, this position will also pursue and implement funding for program-based projects. Reporting to the President & CEO, the Director of Education & Engagement will supervise and support staff, freelance workers, internships, and volunteers necessary to execute the mission of Nashville Public Television. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: •Supervise and implement NPT’s educational initiatives, including teacher professional development, and training for other groups such as parents, childcare professionals, volunteers. •Supervise and implement NPT’s educational community engagement initiatives, generally dealing with informal adult and children’s educational programming and related community involvement. •Research, assess need for, develop and maintain PBS LearningMedia training programs for teachers and community. •Work with Tennessee Department of Education and TN PBS stations on statewide projects. •Work with Metro Schools and area school districts to implement trainings and develop a train-the trainer model of services. •Secure funding through grants to support education and engagement initiatives. •Create and manage departmental budgets and monitor regularly. •Review, recommend and manage educational content and other ancillary educational materials to support NPT’s local content, thus working in collaboration with other NPT teams for best outcomes. •Develop and manage curriculum for NPT locally produced and acquired content for inclusion on PBS LearningMedia. •Supervise and conduct annual and probationary performance evaluations of direct subordinates. •Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in related field preferred. Minimum five years’ experience in educational or classroom settings. Developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs experience desirable. Supervisory experience highly desirable. Media production experience a plus. Occasional travel is necessary. Workspace varies from inside, to working outside for extended periods during the day. This position requires on site or in community presence daily.
