The Human Resources Business Administrator oversees the planning, direction, and coordination of key administrative functions and acts as a liaison for one or more of these areas. This role includes direct supervision of the Payroll Specialist at WGN-TV and reports to the Vice President & General Manager. It presents a dynamic and fulfilling opportunity to support a diverse workforce of union and non-union employees within the broadcasting industry. Responsibilities: • Maintain employee personnel files and ensure HR records are current and compliant • Oversee all employment processes including onboarding, orientation, offboarding, benefits and leave administration, employee verifications, and data changes • Support payroll and accounts payable functions • Maintain EEO compliance reports • Manage workers' compensation, auto insurance claims, safety compliance, and motor vehicle checks • Direct and coordinate the administrative functions of the business unit • Act as a liaison between senior leadership, corporate staff, and employees • Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism • Foster effective communication across all employee levels • Plan and coordinate employee engagement events • Facilitate performance management processes and provide administrative support to management • Support employee relations efforts as needed • Maintain and manage employee contracts and documentation • Perform other duties and projects as assigned Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree preferred • 3–5 years of experience in Human Resources or Business Administration strongly desired • Prior payroll experience is a plus • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – approachable, diplomatic, and a good listener • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and integrity • Highly organized and detail-focused, with strong prioritization skills • Effective problem-solving and sound decision-making abilities • Comfortable coaching, mentoring, and training team members • Proactive, professional, and results-driven #LI- Onsite Salary Range: $60,000 - $77,000 Annualized Benefits: Our comprehensive benefits package includes, but not limited to, medical (with multiple plan options), dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) with company matching contributions, Paid Parental leave, life insurance and more.
