Requisition Number: 195310BR Location: United States - Florida - Orlando Area of Interest: Cable Television Production, Editorial, Network Television Production, News, Television/Programming Position Type: Full Time JOB SUMMARY Anchor assigned newscasts MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Deliver newscasts in a compelling, conversational, engaging and credible manner; able to ad-lib and handle breaking news on-air Newsroom leader Gather information for news stories using beat sources, contacts and leads Deliver news reports, including live reports, demonstrating energy, confidence, professional appearance and voice quality Write own news copy for an assigned newscast or news series and operate teleprompter controls Occasionally report, write and edit news stories within assigned deadlines Establish a community presence outside of the newscasts Perform other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Skills/Abilities and Knowledge Leadership: demonstrated ability to lead people and obtain results through others Must have strong on-camera skills with the ability to read narration effectively Familiar on how to edit news video Must have ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and work under time pressure deadline Must be willing and able to use social media Must be able and willing to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes Communication: excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly communicate solutions; and able to relate well with diverse populations and age groups Interpersonal: ability to interface with internal company personnel Attitude: requires adaptability, enthusiasm, initiative and a positive approach to problem solving. Must enjoy working with people Must obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license for authorized driving in the State of Florida Must adhere attendance guidelines Must be able and willing to work different shifts, report to work on time, and be flexible with schedule changes Education College degree in journalism preferred Related Work Experience Minimum of five years of television news reporting and anchoring experience preferred Working Conditions Works inside in a climate controlled environment and outside throughout the year and may be subjected to various weather conditions that could include extreme heat or cold conditions Communicates in person, by phone and by email Must be able to work under time pressure deadlines and willing and able to work different shifts or longer shifts due to "breaking news" and severe weather emergencies Willing and able to work weekends and holidays Materials and equipment used: various studio and newsgathering television equipment, computers and computer-related equipment Must be able to distinguish colors and discern sounds EOE Charter Communication is an Equal Opportunity Employer – Minority/Female/Veteran/Disability More on Spectrum: Charter Communications reaffirms its commitment to providing equal opportunities for employment and advancement to qualified employees and applicants.
