Date posted 05/19/2017 Requisition Number: 195977BR Location: United States - Florida - Saint Petersburg Area of Interest: Cable Television Production, Editorial, Network Television Production, News, Television/Programming Position Type: Full Time JOB SUMMARY Assist the Chief Engineer with the management of the assigned News/Sports engineering staff and projects MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manage the News/Sports engineering staff, including scheduling of personnel and task management Coordinate technical support for the News/Sports products Supervise facilities maintenance Assist team members when resolving engineering and IT issues Assist personnel with operational issues Troubleshoot and repair equipment/systems Manage assigned engineering projects Light general facilities maintenance Perform other duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Skills/Abilities and Knowledge Must be able to work effectively in a complex 24/7 news environment by diagnosing and resolving or developing alternate methods to overcome issues and maintain continuity in on-air broadcast Knowledge of Windows 7 workstations Knowledge of Windows Server and SQL Enterprise server a plus Must be familiar with TCP/IP Network topologies, VLANS and Cisco WAN/LAN switches, routers, firewalls Knowledge of ENG/DSNG trucks, satellite systems, fiber networks and studio automation Time Management: ability to organize and manage multiple priorities Interpersonal: ability to interface with internal company and division personnel at various levels and outside equipment vendors and suppliers Communication: excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate solutions Requires adaptability, enthusiasm, initiative and a positive approach to problem solving. Must enjoy working with people and assisting staff with technical support issues Must be able to work independently with limited direct supervision Must adhere to schedule guidelines Must be able to work under time pressure deadlines and willing and able to work different shifts or longer shifts due to "breaking news" and severe weather emergencies. Willing and able to work weekends and holidays. Individual could be asked to be on call Must obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license for authorized driving in the state of residence Education High School Diploma or equivalent is required Related Work Experience Number of Years Requires three years of experience in the installation and maintenance of digital television systems Preferred QUALIFICATIONS Skills/Abilities and Knowledge Education AS Degree or equivalent work experience Related Work Experience Number of Years Previous experience in television news a plus Working Conditions To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
