The CW61 Arizona, in Phoenix, is seeking a talented Anchor and Meteorologist to join our morning team. The morning Anchor and Meteorologist has dual responsibilities for preparing and delivering news reports and for preparing and delivering accurate weather report our newscasts. Candidates must have a strong anchor presence and the ability to deliver copy clearly and with authority. Good live skills are a must.
Role and Responsibilities
Co-anchor the morning newscast, Monday through Friday
Gather and write news content for multiple platforms, including posting stories on the Internet
Report live on location from various news events
Research and develop news stories
Prepare and deliver daily weathercasts utilizing all available weather data and graphics computers.
Prepare and deliver urgent weather updates, interrupting regular programming as necessary.
Prepare and deliver all weathercast materials over a variety of mediums, including, but not limited to: TV, Radio, Internet, and Social Media.
Assist management in evaluation of potential new weather data gathering and presentation computers.
Perform various community service activities for station, including performing as master of ceremonies for public service events and as host/hostess for station events
Periodically required to drive personal or company vehicle to cover various assignments
Perform other duties as needed and assigned
Skills and Abilities
Computer literacy required, including weather and newsroom computer systems.
Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment.
Knowledge of Final Cut Pro editing systems, or similar editing equipment.
Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills.
Proficient at posting content to various websites
Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
Education & Experience
Bachelors degree in broadcast, journalism or other related field preferred
Must have a valid drivers license and good driving record
The meteorologist must have NWS and/or AMS seal within three years.
