Job ID 2017-45357 Location US-OH-Cleveland Category Engineering Posted Date 3/2/2017 More information about this job: Overview: WJW is looking for an energetic, detail-oriented technical person needed to help manage engineering operations at Cleveland’s top rated television station. A successful candidate will assist Director of Technology with uninterrupted operation of extensive broadcast facilities that produce nearly 70 hours of live news and feature programming weekly. Ability to multi-task while supervising daily operational and maintenance engineering tasks. Responsibilities: Manage daily on-air systems for a clean look including master control, studios and control room. Ensure smooth operation of all broadcast server/automation equipment and IT related workflow. Oversee transmitter facility including integrity of on-air signal, tower, RF-IT equipment and STL/ TSL paths. Proactively engage with union engineering staff to prevent and quickly resolve technical problems. Supervise general and preventive maintenance on all broadcast and IT related systems. Provide guidance and support with implementation of new equipment and technologies. Assist in planning and execution for capital and monthly budget expenses Stay current on developing technologies and make recommendations for plant improvements. Work cooperatively across other departments to ensure positive results. Qualifications: Minimum of five years’ experience in television engineering or IT related field. Bachelor’s or related degree from technical school in Electronics, engineering or IT preferred. Knowledge of HD encoders/decoders, signal routing and switching. Knowledge of FCC rules/license requirements including EAS, CC, transmitter logs. Highly developed computer skills. A+ or Cisco or SBE certifications desired. Be available on call for technical emergencies to ensure continuous operations at station. Assist with scheduling and staffing priorities for a department of 70 people. Must have good judgement to prioritize work and finish projects on time and on budget. Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States. WJW is an equal opportunity employer.
