WKYT – home to Lexington’s highest rated newscasts – is looking for a meteorologist/multimedia reporter.
This is dual role position that includes producing and anchoring weekend morning weathercasts, special weather programs and webcasts, contributing to the station website, and serving as a multimedia reporter for news coverage. We are looking for someone who embraces both of these unique roles.
Our four-person weather team takes weather seriously. We want to tell the story with interesting video, hyper local graphics, and an emphasis on viewer needs. We report news on every platform available to our viewers. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to report, shoot video, edit video, post web stories/pictures/video from both the field and television station. Successful candidates will also have the ability to deliver compelling stories. You’ll use the latest technology, including lightweight next generation video equipment and laptop editing.
The successful candidate will have experience forecasting and presenting weathercasts. A degree in meteorology, climatology, or atmospheric science is required along with skills in the operation of computerized weather presentation systems, especially WSI. Duties of this job include live reporting, creative shooting, writing, editing and posting of news stories, both hard news and features.
Must have good writing skills and must be able to work well under strict deadline pressure.
