We are looking for an Engineering Maintenance Leader to lead the engineering personnel on the maintenance and technical aspects of WJRT TV in Flint, MI.
This leadership position reports directly to the Director of Engineering.
The successful candidate will have experience managing, planning, developing and multi-tasking priorities.
Responsibilities include integration, and maintenance of new and existing broadcast type towers, rooftops, and tenant installations, regulatory compliance, signal and interference management, vendor management, inspections, and sales support.
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of an active news and production facility and the distribution of WJRT content on multiple platforms, including web, wired, satellite and over-the-air transmitters.
ENG/SNG and electrical equipment installation experience needed.
Qualified applicants should have significant experience in modern television engineering including broadcast and news automation systems, network/IP-based television systems, studio and remote operations, and project design/ management.
A strong working knowledge of ENG/SNG vehicles and systems, CAD software, and physical plant systems will also be necessary. Candidates must evidence exceptional interpersonal skills and be proficient verbal and written communicators.
Accountable for on-the-air picture quality and performance. Able to ascertain problems, evaluate options and execute solutions. Establish standard operating procedures outlining/defining technical quality desired.
Responsible for Set up and provide remote shots via microwave/ENG truck.
Advise for necessary equipment and supplies needs to sustain normal operations.
Be available ``on-call`` 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for any engineering problems.
Work cooperatively with staff engineers and other departments. Perform other tasks related to the position as assigned.
College degree or equivalent industry training.
Minimum 5 years television engineering experience in is strongly preferred.
Experience with modern broadcast automation systems, strong information technology skills required.
Transmitter/RF experience desired.
Familiar with FCC rules and broadcast standards.
Ability to prioritize task list and switch gears quickly based on station needs.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
Must possess and maintain a valid driver`s license in good standing.
Explicit hands on repair and maintenance experience required.
